A Specialized Form Of Primary Treatment

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

We recommend our IOP to clients looking for a middle ground between inpatient and outpatient care — clients who don't require full-time supervision, but would still benefit from a structured treatment schedule.

Who It's For

Structure, without full-time supervision.

Intensive outpatient programs are a specialized form of primary treatment.

These programs are designed to accommodate a client's work and personal schedule while still adhering to a regular, intensive treatment plan. They do not include detoxification, and typically offer an array of services for 10–12 hours per week.

What's Included

A professionally directed treatment and recovery service.

The Two Dreams Intensive Outpatient Program specializes in diagnosing and treating addictive disorders in an organized, non-residential setting. It includes individual, group, and family counseling and psycho-education on recovery, as well as urine drug monitoring, medication management, medical and psychiatric examinations, crisis mitigation coverage, and orientation to community-based support groups.

Program activities emphasize reducing substance use through relapse prevention and urine drug monitoring; understanding addiction through psycho-educational groups; building social support through outside groups and mandatory meetings; developing educational and vocational skills; strengthening social and interpersonal skills through group and individual therapy; improving communication and relationships through family therapy; and sustaining commitment to recovery through compliance.

What Makes Us Different

The 3-7-3 Model.

We believe in individualized drug addiction care here at Two Dreams. Our comprehensive treatment model sets us apart from other programs in that we consider each individual holistically. To ensure that every area of life is examined, we use a "3-7-3 Model" composed of Three Phases, Seven Dimensions, and Three Outcomes — an all-encompassing plan that helps clients gain insight into the pervasive nature of addiction and decreases the likelihood of relapse.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about the IOP.

Who is eligible for the Two Dreams IOP?

Two Dreams is ideal for adults (18+) struggling with substance abuse and addictive behavior. The program is not a detoxification clinic, meaning it does not manage medical issues related to drug or alcohol withdrawal, but referrals for detox are available. A pre-admission assessment screens for appropriateness for treatment services.

What types of services are offered as part of the IOP?

The Two Dreams Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program is a professionally directed treatment and recovery service. We specialize in diagnosing and treating addictive disorders in an organized, non-residential treatment setting. It includes individual, group, and family counseling and psycho-education on recovery, as well as urine drug monitoring, medication management, medical and psychiatric examinations, crisis mitigation coverage, and orientation to community-based support groups.

When are IOP services offered, and how long is the program?

Services may be offered during the day, before or after work or school, in the evening, and/or on weekends. Adult clients usually attend therapeutic services for 9 hours per week, spread over the course of three days. Children and adolescents usually attend therapeutic services for 6 hours per week, spread over at least three days.

What is the staff-to-client ratio in the IOP?

There is always at least one licensed mental health professional (LMHP) on-site when clinical services are being provided. LMHP caseloads never exceed 1:25 active clients, and the ratio is usually closer to 1:3. A physician is on site as needed for the management of psychiatric and medical needs, and is on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A clinical supervisor is also on call at all times, and on-site at least 10 hours a week.

How much does the IOP cost, and what insurance do you accept?

The cost varies between clients, so it is difficult to give an estimate without gathering more personal information. Insurance coverage varies by company, and we are able to give various amounts of aid based on need. Our experienced financial counselor will help you navigate the payment process to determine your coverage and out-of-pocket expenses, and advocate on your behalf to the insurance companies.

How does Two Dreams protect patient privacy?

Privacy is a top priority at Two Dreams. Clients decide whether or not any information about their treatment and/or progress may be shared with relatives or referring physicians. We never disclose personal confidential information without the client's written, documented consent.
