What We Treat

Sex & Porn Addiction

A guide to compulsive sexual behavior — how to recognize it, and how Two Dreams treats it.

What It Is

A pattern of sexual behavior that persists despite consequences.

The National Council on Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity defines sexual addiction as engaging in persistent and escalating patterns of sexual behavior acted out despite increasing negative consequences to self and others.

An individual with sexual addiction fixates on sex to the point that it takes over their behavior and mindset and becomes a detriment to their personal life — continuing the behavior even when it means health risks, broken relationships, financial problems, or incarceration. There's no single definitive test for sexual addiction; healthcare practitioners typically diagnose it based on a comprehensive medical, mental health, and family assessment.

How we treat sex and porn addiction.

Two Dreams offers inpatient, intensive outpatient, and outpatient services based on each individual's needs and level of care required. We also provide step-down transition programs to help clients shift out of the treatment center setting, so recovery continues smoothly after formal treatment ends.
